About

Alabama A&M University, established in 1875, is a public historically black land-grant university in Normal, Alabama. It is affiliated with O.R.A.U. and ACES. The university grants four doctoral degrees, 23 master's degrees, one education specialist degree, and 41 baccalaureate degrees. The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has accredited it.  

It has more than 6000 students, out of which 70 are Alabama A&M University international students representing various countries at the Alabama A&M University campus. Among these, 5000 are Alabama A&M University undergraduate course students, and 1000 are Alabama A&M University's postgraduate course students.

Transportation in the city

Alabama A&M University provides a wide range of tools and helps support and improve students' learning experiences from career services to individual counseling.

  • University students spent USD 12,000 to create the Colonial-style, two-story Carnegie Library building, made of brick and stone. The Library, Business Office, President's Office, and U.S. Post Office were all located in the building. There are two reading rooms, a seminar room, a reference desk, general stacks, and a librarian's office in the library.
  • Thanks to a facility makeover in 2003, the Joseph F. Drake Memorial Learning Resources Center (L.R.C.) has 73,485 square feet of space, can hold up to 400,000 volumes, and has seating for more than 1,000 users. 
  • The Learning Resource Center (L.R.C.) provides services that improve staff participation and student learning, including Interlibrary Loan, Learning Commons, E-Books, electronic and printed scholarly publications, academic databases, Information Literacy workshops, and much more.
  • The goal of the Health & Counseling Center is to promote the health of the Alabama A&M University community and foster a positive campus culture by offering integrative healthcare services based on best practices in the field and encouraging the growth of the body, mind, and spirit in a private, secure setting.

Student life

Within the boundaries of Huntsville, Alabama, the about 2002-acre Alabama A&M University campus is located in Normal, Alabama. In addition to eight female and six male residence halls, A.A.M.U. Boasts 30 significant historic and cutting-edge structures.

With the assistance of more than 50 clubs and student organizations, the school puts on a variety of extracurricular activities and events. It is a university with land grants.

  • Aramark manages the dining facilities at Alabama A&M. Here, and you'll find various locations and menus, worthwhile meal plans, and several catering options.
  • The Alabama A&M Student, Health & Wellness Center building provides the best recreational and fitness activities in the area for students, staff, alumni, and the larger Huntsville community. It offers something for everyone at a reasonable price and has more than 78,000 square feet.
  • Academic success is regarded as the first goal for its student-athletes by the administration and staff of the Department of Athletics. They uphold a philosophy oriented toward the needs of the individual student.
  • The Public Safety Department's mission is to deliver superior services that meet the needs of the Alabama A&M community and reflect our commitment to excellence.

On campus accomodation

All students are accommodated on campus by the University.

 It provides double occupancy living quarters in its resident halls, together with a wide range of added amenities to make students' stays convenient and comfortable. It has eight female residence halls and six male residence halls.

  • Every residence hall has a distinctive culture that contributes to the sense of community and supports academic and personal development.
  • The residential life experience is a living-learning opportunity that promotes special relationships, offers the best growth potential, and offers residence life programs. Activities focused on Foundations, Opportunities, Citizenship, Understanding, and Scholastics. "Student Learning Outcomes," which emphasize Self, Community, and Others, are an addition to the F.O.C.U.S. Programming Model.
  •  Hopkins Hall, Thomas V. Morris Hall, Solomon Palmer Hall, Clarence F. Stephens Hall, Harriett J. Terry Hall, and Emily Thigpen Hall are available as traditional halls.
  • The suite-style residences for upper-level and first-year students are Ernest L. Knight Living and Learning Complex, Mamie Labon Foster Living and Learning Complex, and Andrew and Abbiegail Hugine Living and Learning Complex.
  • Upper-level students are the only ones who can get an apartment. The typical price is USD 3000 (INR 2,10,000).
