Transportation in the city

Arcadia University is located in the town of Glenside, approximately 12 miles (25 minutes) north of Center City Philadelphia. The fastest way to reach the university from Glenside is through a car which lasts for a duration of 3 minutes (0.9 miles). The most convenient and easy way to reach the university is through SEPTA’s Regional Rail System. The closest station to campus is the Glenside Station. Public transportation to campus is available via SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority), Greater Philadelphia’s public transit system.

  • For students of arts, the campus is equipped with the Arcadia University Theater, the Arts Center, 3D Design Studio, art studios and 5 art galleries. 
  • Students and Faculty of the university have access to the Stiteler Auditorium, the Calhoun Amphitheater, the Digital Language Lab, computer labs, communications laboratory, greenhouse and an observatory.
  • International students and students wishing to increase their level of English proficiency have access to the Office of International Programs and the English Language Institute. 
  • Students from science and humanities backgrounds are provided with the Genetic Counseling House, Forensic Science Program Crime Scene House and the Humanities Research Lab. 

Student life

  • The university offers its students the Kuch Athletic and Recreation Center which has a gymnasium, pool, fitness center, indoor track, aerobics and dance studio, locker rooms, and training rooms. 
  • All students have access to the Arcadia Esports Arena, the Athletic Pavilion which contains an enclosed spectator area and the Delran Pavilion which contains meeting space, restrooms, an athletic training area, and bleacher seating that can accommodate 500 persons. 
  • Field Hockey Field, tennis courts, lacrosse fields, soccer fields, baseball fields are all available on campus. 
  • The university has over 60+ student clubs and organizations at Arcadia, all functioning under the Student Government Organization.
  • The university offers Writers Series which brings writers of distinction to campus for readings and workshops
  • For the safety of everyone on campus, the university provides a Health Services Center. 
  • Students of the university have the freedom to use the common rooms where students can socialize, grab a bite to eat, watch TV, play games, and more. 
  • The university has a building called Haber Green which is used for campus events and student recreation, and is the traditional site for Commencement ceremonies. 
  • The university offers free and confidential counseling services to assist students with personal challenges that may interfere with their academic progress.

  • The university is equipped with Career Education services that assists students with career and employment goals, provides graduate school information and career counseling.
  • The university is installed with the Office of Access, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion that has many divisions under it which offer support and resources for students of all communities (disability support services, gender based violence, anti-racism and more). 
  • The university provides a band room and multiple event and meeting rooms. 
  • For students who wish to buy products that are outside of campus, they can visit the Campus store which sells textbooks, electronics, clothing & gifts etc. 
  • The Community and Civic Engagement Center is accessible to both students and faculty on campus. 

On campus accomodation

Arcadia University guarantees housing for all undergraduate students that deposit by the posted deadline and for graduate students, the university offers some apartments in Oak Summit. 

Accommodations are available in traditional residence halls, suite-style and apartments. The following are the residence halls available for undergraduate and graduate students.  

  • The traditional residence halls include Kistler, Dilworth and Heinz. All of the traditional residence halls are coed by floor, wing, or room. Single rooms are available upon request, and are offered at a higher room rate than other spaces. 
  • Grey Towers Castle is a first-year coed residence hall in rooms of 2 to 7 students. Common bathrooms are available in each wing. Please note that given the large size of the Castle rooms, all students in the Castle pay the standard room rate.
  • Knight Hall is a suite-style residence hall that houses 5-8 upper-class students per suite. Residents are housed in a single, double, or triple occupancy room within the suite. Each floor is equipped with a laundry facility and a large lounge with a kitchen. Knight Hall is air-conditioned, and has elevator access to all floors. Each suite shares a bathroom, a common area with lounge furniture and a large closet. 
  • Thomas Hall, a traditional residence hall, is located between and connects to Kistler and Dilworth halls and is composed of single rooms.

Oak Summit is an Arcadia University-owned apartment-style housing complex just a short walk from the center of campus. Two to four students are housed in one, two, or three bedroom apartments with kitchens, private bathrooms, and private laundry facilities.

Student-faculty research at Arcadia are exploring several important issues including the efficacy of breast cancer drugs, global conservation, potential of hemp, among few. Students of Arcadia University have the liberty and opportunity to explore research projects in their field of study.
