Transportation in the city

With transportation facilities, getting around the CMU campus and Pittsburgh is very convenient. All the CMU colleges are close to bus and cab stops. Here is how students can travel around the campus and Pittsburg city - 

  • Shuttle services are available free for university students. It starts at 7 AM and runs on a specific route with fixed stops. Students must show their CMU ID while boarding the shuttle. 
  • For students living in Squirrel Hill, Oakland or Shadyside, evening escort services are available from 6.30 PM to 4.15 AM. Carnegie Mellon university ID is a must for boarding the transportation. 
  • Students can also travel from their accommodation to the university campus with the help of Zipcar services. CMU’s Zipcar vehicles are parked in the East Campus Garage. 
  • Pittsburgh Bike Share offers public bicycle-sharing facilities through an app called Healthy Ride. Students can rent a bicycle from any of the 50 locations in the city. 
  • Public buses like the city buses from the Port Authority transportation (PAT) and  Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) are available for students to board after showing their student ID cards.
