With transportation facilities, getting around the CMU campus and Pittsburgh is very convenient. All the CMU colleges are close to bus and cab stops. Here is how students can travel around the campus and Pittsburg city - 

• Shuttle services are available free for university students. It starts at 7 AM and runs on a specific route with fixed stops. Students must show their CMU ID while boarding the shuttle. 

• For students living in Squirrel Hill, Oakland or Shadyside, evening escort services are available from 6.30 PM to 4.15 AM. Carnegie Mellon university ID is a must for boarding the transportation. 

• Students can also travel from their accommodation to the university campus with the help of Zipcar services. CMU’s Zipcar vehicles are parked in the East Campus Garage. 

• Pittsburgh Bike Share offers public bicycle-sharing facilities through an app called Healthy Ride. Students can rent a bicycle from any of the 50 locations in the city. 

• Public buses like the city buses from the Port Authority transportation (PAT) and  Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) are available for students to board after showing their student ID cards. 

Carnegie Mellon University offers a host of services like a library, healthcare and sports facilities to international students. A detailed discussion of the services and facilities by CMU are as follows -

• Library - Hunt Library,  Sorrels Library and Mellon Library are the primary libraries at Carnegie Mellon University. The librarians offer personalised one-on-one consultation to students looking for information on various subjects. Students must carry their CMU ID card to avail of the library services and access the print and scan stations.

• Healthcare - University Health Services (UHS) at Carnegie Mellon University offers prompt medical services to students. Students can book a doctor’s consultation or request their medical records through the online portal of HealthConnect. Full-time students at CMU who do not have valid medical insurance can avail of several health insurance plans provided by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.

• Sports - Carnegie Mellon is one such university that believes and advocates academic and athletic excellence must successfully coexist. The university is a prestigious member of the University Athletic Association (UAA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Level. The CMU sports team, known as Tartarus, has competed in intercollegiate sports events since 1900. They have competed in 152 national championships and won 89 conference championships.
