On campus accomodation

Colgate University is a residential one, with more than 90% of the students living on campus. You will be paired with a roommate and given the key to a room in one of four residential commons on upper campus as you begin your first year, just a short distance from your classes, food options, and new friends!

Throughout their four years at the University, students are provided residence on campus. One of the four residential commons that spark intellectual community is where students start their residential experiences.

Traditional residence halls, townhouses, apartments, and affinity housing are only a few examples of the various types of residential facilities.

  • The Residential Commons

The Colgate residential experience is built around the Residential Commons program. Students who live there are connected to instructors, peers, and academically and socially stimulating activities through the commons.

All students live in their Residential Commons for the first two years, with choices for more autonomous living during junior and senior years.

  • Junior and Senior Experience

Throughout their stay at Colgate, students develop a connection to their residential commons. However, there are many accommodation options outside the commons for junior and senior years, giving students the chance to live independently and create their communities.
