Dominican University is a private institution founded in 1901. It is a first-class bilingual Roman Catholic research university in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; that offers civil and pontifical bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in philosophy and theology. The University offers more than 50 academic majors including several pre-professional programs and five graduate schools in health sciences, business, library and information science, social work, and education.

Dominican University is ranked among the top 20 Midwest regional universities, according to U.S. News & World Report, which also cited the University as one of three Illinois schools offering "best value" in college education. The University is also ranked 19th in Best Undergraduate Teaching, 3rd in Best Value Schools and 350th in Business Programs.
