Established in 1958, Columbus State University (CSU) was first conceptualized in 1949 by the Columbus Chamber of Commerce. The locals fought to keep the idea alive by crowdfunding to buy the college's current site and devise strategies for its administration. All these efforts helped build the Columbus State University we know today - highly accredited and one of the most affordable universities in the United States.

Transportation in the city

Both the campuses of Columbus State University are situated in Columbus, the capital city of the state of Ohio. Covering more than 41 routes with a fleet of nearly 450 buses, the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) is the primary source of public transit in the city. Students can also share rides, or avail bicycles and electric scooters. Free hourly shuttles also operate between the two campuses.

Both the campuses of Columbus State University offer world-class services and infrastructure. With in-house medical staff, free transit in-between campuses, campus police, libraries, and recreation centres, CSU offers a plethora of amenities, such as -

On campus accomodation

In between the Main Campus and the RiverPark Campus, there are a total of 9 residence places for student accommodations. All freshmen students of Columbus State University are mandated to reside in on-campus housing for two semesters. They are accommodated in either Broadway Crossing at the RiverPark Campus or Clearview Hall at the Main Campus.

Columbus State University provides on-campus residence to all students with documented psychological or medical disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Research opportunities at university

Columbus State University encourages all undergraduates to engage in research and has a variety of resources to help them in their endeavors. Student Research And Creative Endeavors (S-RACE) Grants are available for students to aid them in research, publishing, and presenting their findings. An annual spring event, namely the Columbus State Tower Day, is held in the Schuster and Davidson Centers for CSU students to present their papers.

Students can opt for an internship opportunity at The Waffle House Internship Program or the Growing Leaders (American residents only). They can also choose city internship programs that offer internship opportunities across 9 sectors, such as Advertising, Media, and Banking. The Georgia County Internship program also makes 40 internship opportunities available for all CSU students.
