The University is the leader in the “It’s About Respect” initiative which promotes respect for all people and also celebrates diversity( the program has been adopted by various organizations including the City of Thunder Bay). The university has smaller class sizes, highly-trained instructors, and a learning environment. The university provides hands-on programs and practical courses that will give the students the knowledge, skills, and confidence that the student needs to succeed.
- The university has been recognized as an Indigenous Education Leader because it sets policy for Indigenous learning in the education sector which is post-secondary. The university offers Indigenous programs along with services to Indigenous learners. The university is the first college in Ontario to have a comprehensive student mental well-being and health strategy.
- Confederation College, Thunder Bay accepts the responsibility in the national reconciliation process and also acknowledges that the university is accountable for the tragic history. The university is working to address the injustices against the Indigenous peoples and also honoring the relationships with communities.
- Confederation College, Thunder Bay scholarships include Bursary for foster children, Surex scholarship program, Place for mom scholarship, Kin Canada Bursary, and CAWIC.
