Denison University was founded in 1831 and was one of the first institutions of higher learning in the old Northwest Territory. The institution was originally known as the Granville Literary and Theological Institution. Later, it was known as Granville College. Transportation in the city

John Glenn International Airport (CMH) shuttle service is being organised by Denison to take visitors to campus. A Ride-Share board for Denison connects faculty, staff, and students for carpooling options. The Office of Sustainability also coordinates carpooling possibilities. Additionally, the institution and the Mid Ohio Regional Planning Commission are working together on the GOhio Commute program, which seeks to connect staff members with alternative forms of transportation.
