Grande Prairie Regional College was first formed in 1966 and has campuses in Grande Prairie and Fairview, along with learning centers in Grande Cache, Edson, Jasper, and Hinton in the region it serves. GPRC offers a comprehensive range of professional certificates and diplomas, pre-employment and apprenticeship trades, university transfer courses, and numerous chances for on-campus degree completion at the bachelor's and master's levels through university cooperation. Students can pursue degrees in various fields at Grande Prairie Regional College, including liberal arts, science, physical education, trades, and technical training,  nursing, human services, business, technology, fine arts, academic upgrading, agriculture, and environmental sciences. The travel time and distance between Beaverlodge and Grande Prairie Regional College are approximately 1 hour and 18 minutes. The average layover time is approximately 31 minutes. It travels at Beaverlodge 1 Avenue and arrives at Grande Prairie Regional College, where Cold Shot and Grand Prairie Transit operate. There are five services per week, but the schedule can change on weekends and holidays, so be sure to call beforehand.

Cafeteria, daycare, bank ATMs, bookstores as well as theaters, and a gym are all available at the GPRC campus. Students benefit from lower class sizes and high-quality, individualized instruction, ensuring that students from our region and those from throughout Canada and around the world have full access to educational opportunities.

Student Clubs: There are numerous activities put on by and for the students of the GPRC Student Association to help them enjoy their time in College. If you're looking for a fun location to hang out with friends, the Howlerson-campus lounge is an excellent option. 

Sports Activities: Basketball, cross-country running, curling, soccer, and volleyball are just a few sports served by the Grande Prairie athletic facilities. As part of the GPRC Campus Recreation Program, our students offer intramural sports and fun events like the Howlers Cup Dodgeball Tournament. In addition, students can play scrimmages or join the city league at the GP Minor Baseball diamonds, next to campus.


On campus accomodation

Over 500 students can live at Grande Prairie Regional College’son-campus accommodation. Both single students and students with families can stay in furnished rooms.

  • Three hundred sixty-two students living in the Grande Prairie housing enjoy the convenience of living on campus. Accommodations are available for both single and family students.
  • A total of 89 four-person homes, two of which are wheelchair accessible, are available in the Residences, located immediately east of the main campus along Bear Creek.
  • Besides the oven/stove, each unit has a full-sized refrigerator and a freezer. Sofas, loveseats, and end tables are among the many pieces of furniture. Extra-long (80-inch) twin beds, wardrobes, closets, and study tables or stations are standard in the bedrooms. Each floor has a shared bathroom. In Residence, students have access to three washers, dryers, and a mailbox. The Grande Prairie Regional College Residence Office is in the same building as the postal room and the main laundry facility.

GPRC strongly emphasizes research and innovation as part of its educational philosophy. Nearly 300 distinct financed research projects in dental medicine, allied health sciences, graduate studies, medicine, and nursing are carried out at the institution. At GPRC, there are two primary applied research projects. Environmental research in wetland reclamation and wastewater treatment is the subject of one program, Pollutants to Products (P2P). Honeybee diseases and pests are studied and diagnosed at the National Bee Diagnostic Center.
