Transportation in the city

The Indiana State University Campus in Terre Haute is serviced by a city bus that travels to various parts of the city (including shopping areas, restaurants, etc.). All ISU students are eligible for free bus travel. Every day, excluding Sundays, buses run. There will be information on the bus service. Just provide student ID while boarding the free Campus Bus that travels around the campus and the nearby downtown. In the city, there is also a taxi service. Greyhound Bus Lines provides bus service from Terre Haute to various cities and locations in the United States and Canada. The distance between the ISU campus and the Greyhound Bus Station is around two miles.


Services offered by the university

For the sake of the university community, Indiana provides a thorough public safety program and keeps a visible presence on all of the campuses.

  • Strong collections of documents about Indiana history and culture are housed in the Indiana State University Library, which hosts meetings for the state-wide digital library project in Indiana. Its goal is to give residents, libraries, and the state's government access to information and services. Indiana State University Library has been allowed to work with the Indiana State Library & the Indianapolis Public Library to digitize a collection of historically significant materials that are currently out of circulation thanks to a grant from the Library Fund of the Indianapolis Foundation.
  • The Cunningham Memorial Library has more than two million items in its collections. Using their student ID, undergraduate students can check out the majority of the materials for a three-week loan period. The library is a member of the Vigo County Library Consortium. Students can search nearly 400,000 documents in the library catalogs of the Vigo County Public Library, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology using the search engine Fusion.
  • Indiana State University provides The Center for Student Success, located inside Normal Hall, which offers academic success workshops in addition to tutoring, extra teaching, mentorship, advising, classroom instruction, and counseling.
  • In addition, the center offers specialized support programs, such as the 21st Century Scholar Corps Program, Students in Transition Program, & Student Support Services Program, which include support for students with special needs and disabilities as well as first-generation, low-income students.
  • A second PWA award was used to fund the construction of the Sycamore Theater & a gymnasium. Gilbert Brown Wilson, a native of Terre Haute, painted several murals inside. The Vigo County School Corporation included the laboratory school as one of its departments.

The main campus of Indiana State University occupies more than 200 acres (0.81 km2) in the center of Terre Haute, on the north side of the city's commercial sector. Over 60 brick & limestone buildings, halls, and labs make up the main campus.

  • Indiana is a vibrant community where students actively pursue happiness by participating in a range of initiatives. It encourages civic responsibility, choosing a healthy lifestyle, multicultural competence, personal and professional growth, and the development of leadership.
  • Intramural sports provide leisure opportunities for students of all skill levels. It offers solo sports, double sports, & team sports for male, female, and co-rec athletes.
  • Indiana State University Hulman Memorial Student Union Board (Union Board) works to offer educational, social, recreational, and cultural programs. Six committees & two steering committees make up Union Board, and each one provides chances to gain useful job experience while interacting with new people and making friends. Members of the Union Board serve as role models for other students by setting goals, planning, evaluating completed initiatives, and following through.
  • The Office of Service Learning, Volunteerism & Community Engagement promotes an engaged community. It works with teachers & community partners to provide a range of activities.
  • The school's Office of Student Activities provides students with a variety of cultural and recreational opportunities that are both personally fulfilling and pleasant, such as ice skating and comedy shows.
