About

Douglas College became Kwantlen College in 1981. The new institution for the South Fraser region received more than 200 name choices. Stan McKinnon provided the "Kwantlen" winning entry. The name "Kwantlen" is derived from the Kwantlen First Nation, on whose ancestral lands the University is situated. With campuses in Surrey, Richmond, Cloverdale, and Langley, Kwantlen Polytechnic Institution (sometimes abbreviated as KPU) is a public undergraduate polytechnic university in British Columbia.

Transportation in the city

There is a direct connection between Kwantlen's Surrey and Richmond campuses via bus route 301. All KPU students and staff with a current KPU Library ID Card may use the inter-campus shuttle service to travel between the Surrey, Cloverdale, and Langley campuses throughout the day.

This program collaborates with  KPU, the KSA, and a commercial service contract. This ground-breaking pilot initiative offers a creative solution for "filling in gaps" in the neighborhoods served by KPU's present transit options.


Services offered by the university

LIBRARY

On every one of its four campuses, KPU has a library. The Kwantlen Polytechnic University Campus has the largest library with smaller program-focused collections available in Richmond, Langley, and Cloverdale. Through the library, KPU students, staff, and professors can access millions of objects, including print and ebooks, streaming videos, online journal and newspaper articles, and more.

MEDICAL

KPU Counseling provides medical services to students on a variety of issues, for example:

Student life

Five campuses of Kwantlen, currently known as Kwantlen Polytechnic University, were built by the British Columbian government throughout the Metro Vancouver area in 1981.

SPORTS FACILITIES

Before joining the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association, Kwantlen Polytechnic University belonged to the Pacific Western Athletic Association (often known as PacWest). Men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, badminton, and golf were the four sports in which the University fielded six varsity teams.

STUDENT CLUBS 

Student groups provide opportunities for participation, learning, and meeting new friends. Joining clubs is a fantastic way to express yourself, develop as a person, meet people on campus and in the community, and better prepare for life after graduation.


On campus accomodation

All students from outside the Metro Vancouver area will need to arrange housing because Kwantlen Polytechnic University does not offer on-campus housing options. 

Thanks to homestay programs, students can live as family members in a Canadian home. Students dine with their hosts, engage in family activities and talks, and form friendships with people who can make acclimating to a new environment much simpler.

Research opportunities at university

At polytechnic university, researchers work on a variety of projects to advance their publications, specialized knowledge, and teaching practices. Here at KPU, the slogan "where thought meets action" is lived up to. The study is heavily influenced by regional business. Researchers collaborate with nearby businesses, NGOs, and community organizations to address and find solutions for actual difficulties. Internship opportunities (Part time job opportunities)

Internships in graphic design, interior design, product design, and fashion marketing are available through the Faculty of Design. In that they are unpaid and include educational components, internships and practicums are comparable. An internship may last a little longer than a practicum.


Placement - Companies and average salaries offered

The overall employment rate at the bachelor's degree level was 89 percent; at the associate degree level, it was 90 percent. 78% of bachelor's degree holders had jobs associated with their studies.
