In the autumn of 2018, there will be 9,466 students enrolled at the institution, popularly known as MSU. For the autumn of 2018, there were 8,142 undergraduate students and 1,324 postgraduate students. For the main campus, the total area is 258.43 acres. To meet the growing need for teachers as professionals, the university was founded when Senate Bill 14 was passed by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, which resulted in the establishment of two normal schools in the early 20th century.

Transportation in the city

A student's usage of Murray State cars must be approved by Facilities Management at the request of the department head who made the request. Facilities Management has the Request for Student Driver Authorization Packets accessible. A Guidelines and Procedures document, a Request for Student Driver Authorization form, and informational pamphlets on van safety, seatbelt use, and other necessary topics are included in the bundle. Vehicle usage permits for students must be renewed yearly. A current motor vehicle record check will be kept on file for each student driver. A student may be given access to any passenger vehicle. Students who have finished the van driver coaching program and are at least 21 years old are eligible to operate a van.

Both on-campus and off-campus students can access the university libraries as a communal intellectual space. The Harry Lee Waterfield Library, the Forrest C. Pogue Special Collections Library and University Archives, the James O. Overby Legal Resources Library, and the Wrather West Kentucky Museum are just a few examples of the spaces on Murray State University campus that serve as places for growth.

  • Medical facility

Village Medical of Murray is the healthcare provider for Murray State University. On the first floor of Wells Hall, facing the quad is where you'll find Health Services. During operational hours, a provider and their personnel will be present. Faculty, staff members, and students can all access health services.


Student life

Students will have several possibilities to get engaged on Murray State University Campus as a student at Murray State College. The Murray State University Cost of living is $6,000. Students are invited to get involved in one of our 25+ clubs, support our sports teams, play intramural sports, and take advantage of our extensive selection of on-campus student activities.

  • Sports

The majority of the university's sports and leisure facilities are situated along the KY-121 Bypass, which runs along the northernmost part of the campus. Roy Stewart Stadium is the most notable building in the sports complex. The stadium, which serves as the Murray State Racers football team's home field, was finished in 1973 and is named after Roy Stewart, a former Murray State football coach. It has 16,800 seats. FieldTurf was installed in 2007 to replace the aging AstroTurf surface.


On campus accomodation

The resident halls at Murray State are all up to date and well furnished, including kitchenettes with microwaves, study rooms, coin-operated laundry facilities, and vending machines. The furniture in rooms includes beds, desks, chairs, closets, and drawer space.

The Center supports all fields of study and instruction pertaining to reservoirs and their watersheds. Multidisciplinary efforts are now structured around five interconnected areas. The processes that control and maintain biological productivity in reservoir settings serve as the overarching subject.
