Transportation in the city

The North Carolina Central University is located in Durham and the most accessible way to reach the university is through the Durham station. The distance between the station and the university is 2.4 kilometers. The most affordable way to get from the Durham Station to North Carolina Central University is by line 5 bus which costs 1 USD (77 INR) and takes eleven minutes. The fastest way to get from Durham Station to NCCU is by taxi which takes four minutes and costs 7 USD (600 INR). The university offers the NC Central GoPass - a public transportation bus pass - to students, faculty, and staff. The GoPass allows students, faculty, and staff to take transit to and from the NCCU campus on any route. NC Central students are able to receive a GoPass for free; faculty and staff can purchase a GoPass for 50 USD (3,846 INR).

  • All undergraduate students classified as Freshman and Sophomore are required to live in a University-operated residence hall.
  • Amenities such as computer labs, study spaces, and kitchens are available.

The research department at the North Carolina Central University is located in the heart of the high-tech Research Triangle and has around 13 centers and institutes. Research projects at North Carolina Central University accomplish advances in biotechnological, biomedical, informational, computational, behavioral, social, and health sciences. Students are presented with ample opportunities to get involved and enhance their access to careers in their chosen areas of interest. Moreover, the university is equipped with the Office of Research Compliance and Technology Transfer which promotes responsible conduct in research advances at the university.
