The students of Old Dominion University can join campus ministries coordinated by the University Chaplain's Association (UCA). The ministries include the Baptist United Methodist, Roman Catholic, Episcopalian, Presbyterian, and Lutheran which are sponsored ministries. The curriculum is designed to bring ideas and goals to life. The students can gain the knowledge and perspective needed to land their dream job or launch their own business.
- The university provides two educational specialist degrees. The university through distance learning provides 100 programs.ODU is the few universities in the US to offer MBA concentrations in Maritime, and Port Logistics Management and has well-respected programs in Marine Science, Coastal, and Transportation.
- The university has a commitment to science, engineering, marine science, and other fields of major importance to the region. The departments also conduct research with NASA. Due to the location of the university in a metropolitan area, Old Dominion University emphasizes urban issues, including education and health care along with fine and performing arts.
- Old Dominion University scholarships include the Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship, Alumni Association Outstanding Scholar Fellowships, Friends of Women’s Studies Scholarship and there are loan programs such as Federal Direct Subsidized Loans, the William D. Ford Federal Direct and Unsubsidized Loan.
