Transportation in the city

The University has its own transportation system in collaboration with Nelson/Nygaard, the leaders in sustainable transportation. 

Additionally, the students can use RSD Rides that run from 5pm to 3am daily. 

Students can also rent private cars and taxis to commute within the campus and outside the campus. The University has a collaboration with E1I Cooperative Services that provides lower rates to RISD Students. 

Additionally, the students can use their RISD ID Card to commute with the public transport in the city.

Yes, the university does provide various on campus housing facilities with the help of The Residence Life Program at RISD. Students can choose from various residence halls depending on their profiles. 

  • The First Year Students have access to the East Hall, Homer Hall, Nickerson Hall and North Hall. The average indicative rental prices are $7500 (5,98,000 INR) per year. 
  • The Sophomore Students have Hill Houses, South Hall, 15 West Alcove Suites.  The average indicative rental prices are $8000 (6,37,000 INR) per year.

Research opportunities at university

The University carries out very limited but high quality research through the Office of Institutional Research. The University carries out research in depth in Apparel Design, Architecture, Art & Design Research, Film, Video and Animation and many more. 

Every year around 50 researches are carried out by the staff of 200 researchers where around 250 students assist the professors. 


Internship opportunities (Part time job opportunities)

The Career Center of the University provides assistance to the students in landing their dream jobs. The center conducts various workshops, career fairs and job fairs to help the students get in touch with the prospective employees. 

With the help of ArtWorks: the Job Board of RISD students, the sers are able to discover the leading job opportunities with the companies. Additionally, various other job boards like Behance, BWOrk, Indeed, Idealist, and many more are also accessible to the students. 

According to the official statistics, every year around 700 students land their dreal internships in more than 25 countries.
