The School for International Training, abbreviated SIT, is a private non-profit, regionally accredited institution based in Brattleboro, Vermont, USA. The college has two divisions- SIT Graduate Institute and SIT StudyStudy abroad.

The college provides more than 80 summers and semester SIT Graduate Institute Courses in 40 locations worldwide, including comparative programmes. Like the SIT Study Abroad programmes, all graduate degree programmes are based on seven "important global issues": climate and environment, development and inequality, education and social change, geopolitics and power, global health and well-being, identity and human resilience, and peace and justice. The institution has around 77 students enrolled in 2022, and about 19.23% of them are SIT Graduate Institution International students. Students can select their theme, format, language, duration, and undergraduate research and internship opportunities. All programmes are interdisciplinary and open to students from a variety of majors.

Transportation in the city

Brattleboro does not have an airport, although it is served by buses, trains, and private shuttles from regional airports. And Students can use local bus taxi or train services to reach the campus.


Services offered by the university

  • Degree programmes mainly were taught on the SIT campus in Brattleboro, Vermont, or at the World Learning Center in Washington, DC.
  • SIT announced a change in degree offers and formats in January 2018, replacing full time, on-campus master's programmes with a global degree model.
  • Several weeks each year, low-residency and certificate programmes continue to be offered on the Vermont campus. International degrees can be completed in three countries related to the degree's emphasis.

  • SIT librarians have gathered research assistance, subject guides, and handy resources at the Donald B. Watt Library & Information Commons located on the Rotch campus. Books, DVDs, videotapes, periodicals, e-books, electronic databases, and student research are examples of these items.
  •  The bulk of the library's collection is available in electronic format to help students and professors at our Brattleboro site, Washington D.C. programme, and elsewhere across the world conduct research.
