Established in 1911, SUNY College Of Environmental Science and Forestry has a history of over 100 years. E.S.F. is America's first College to focus exclusively on environment and sustainability. It is a four-year public college offering 27 undergraduate and 54 graduate programs to the students who want to pursue their education in the U.S.A. 2,200 students are currently enrolled in E.S.F.  The University is a multi-campus institution. The campus of the University is spread over 25,000 acres of land, primarily located in the Adirondacks. E.S.F. provides 75 academic programs to the students in design, science, engineering, and management of natural resources, including the environment, through its ten departments.

  • The NYS DEC Environment Education Campus is located in the Southern Adirondacks on 2,500 acres. This campus has a lake and countless miles of trails leading to banks, marshes, and mountains of the Hudson River.
  • The Thousand Islands Biological Station is located on the St.Lawrence River near Clayton over Governor's island. The research program here mainly focuses on the aquatic ecology of the river.
  • The University has a variety of clubs, around 35 clubs in which students can be a part of.
  • There is a Botany Club whose mission is to help the ESF Community connect with plants. The Bob Marshall Club of the University is the outing club for SUNY ESF. The club takes students on hiking, backpacking trips, and snowshoeing.

On campus accomodation

The UG students at SUNY ESF must live on campus at Centennial Hall. The Centennial Hall is located on the western edge of the ESF campus, and it houses around 549 students. The hall is an environmentally friendly "green" building designed as a combination of residence hall-style rooms and apartments for the students.
