About

Temple University, founded in 1884, is a research university in Philadelphia. Russell Conwell, a Philadelphia minister, founded "The Temple College" in 1888 after tutoring a group of young working men in night classes. His vision for the institution would be to provide educational opportunities for motivated and talented students from all backgrounds and financial backgrounds. It was previously private and was designated as a "state-related" institution in 1965.


Temple university has nine campuses, from urban and suburban Philadelphia to Rome and Japan. Its main campus is in the centre of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's largest city and the fifth largest in the United States. Temple University has long been known for the ethnic diversity of its student body. Transportation in the city

There are numerous ways to get to Temple University, including taking the bus, train, walking, or renting a motorcycle. The city has an efficient and very well public transportation system. Many local public transportation routes stop at Temple University. Cecil B. Moore Station serves as a stop for all local Broad Street metro trains (the orange line). Also, on Broad Street, the "4" and "16" buses stop at Cecil B. Moore Avenue, Montgomery Avenue, Polett Walk, and Norris Street. Additionally, the "23" bus stops at Polett Walk, Montgomery Avenue, and Cecil B. Moore Avenue on 12th Street (southbound) and 11th Street (northbound).
