Texas A&M University at Galveston, abbreviated as TAMUG, is an ocean-oriented branch campus of Texas A&M University. It was established in 1962 as a marine laboratory. The total enrollment of TAMUG is 324 students, out of whom several are international students from abroad. The university offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs through eight departments. The university's academic programs are distinctively ocean-based and include marine fisheries, marine engineering technology, maritime studies, marine biology, etc.

There are fixed-route buses and Dial-a-Ride vehicles available Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m., including holidays.

The Texas A7M Galveston campus is located on Pelican Island in Galveston Harbor. It houses the Texas A&M Maritime Academy, one of the only seven Maritime Academies of the USA that train US Merchant marine officers. The TAMUG campus is well connected and has immediate access to the ocean, the port of Houston, the port of Gavelston, and the estuarine areas.

  • The on-campus residence halls of Texas A&M Gavelston include – The Texas A&M Maritime Academy Halls, the Atlantic and Pacific Halls, and the Hullabaloo and Oceans Hall. 
  • The three on-campus residences offer single and double-sharing rooms. All the rooms are fully furnished and include amenities like beds, closets, study tables, chairs, etc.
