Transportation in the city

Texas State University is spread across two campuses in Texas, with one in San Marcos and another in Round Rock. The distance between the city of San Marcos and the university is less than a mile whereas the distance between the campus and Round Rock city is less than seven miles. Transportation Services offers a variety of transportation and parking services for students, faculty, and staff at the Texas State University campuses. The Bobcat Campus Shuttle provides 45 buses covering 10 routes with over 27,000 rides around campus per day. Alternative transportation options like The Bike Cave, campus bicycle workshop, and multiple on-campus Zipcar locations are also available. Students can use the daily bus and taxi services to move in and around the cities as well.


Services offered by the university

Texas State University carries out its educational processes at the San Marcos Campus which is spread across 510 acres and comprises 207 buildings as well as the Round Rock Campus which is spread across 101 acres and consists of 6 buildings. 

  • The University Libraries comprise three facilities and two prestigious collections that are equipped with resources, technology, a reading room, research materials, and spaces for quiet or collaborative research and study. 
  • The Student Learning Assistance Center provides multifaceted academic support to all students through tutoring services (individual, group, online), Supplemental Instruction (collaborative group study for specific courses), learning and study skills workshops, and learning specialist consultations free of charge. 
  • Career Services offers career planning resources through events, alumni presentations, interview preparation, and many others.

Student life

  • Students can engage in more than 400 student clubs and organizations covering a range of areas like academics, religion, culture, greek societies, recreation, service, politics, sports, and other special interests. 
  • The Student Recreation Center is equipped with badminton, volleyball and basketball courts, cardio machines, dance studios, indoor swimming, rock climbing, soccer and track facilities, a personal training studio, a nutrition coaching suite, changing rooms, vending machines, and many other sports facilities, equipment, and studios. 
  • The university also offers the Outdoor Center at Sewell Park which comprises two sand volleyball courts, open spaces for informal recreation, an outdoor basketball court, and numerous picnic spots.  
  • The LBJ Student Center hosts themed art exhibitions, leadership workshop programs, conferences, orientations, and other student club-related events. 
  • Students can access the Counseling Center to receive mental health support through counseling, consultation, crisis response, and educational workshops and webinars at no charge.

On campus accomodation

Texas State University offers on-campus accommodation through its twenty-three residence halls with traditional and apartment-style living options. All first-year students are required to live on campus.
