Troy University is a public university located in Troy, Alabama. The University was established in 1887 as Troy State Normal School within the Alabama State University System and is currently the flagship of the Troy University System. Moreover, it holds accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS) to award associate, baccalaureate, master's, education specialist, and doctoral degrees.

Transportation in the city

There is a night shuttle service available for the entire campus from 4:00 pm to 9:30 pm Monday through Thursday, and it can be arranged through call too. In order to use shuttle services, all riders must possess a valid Troy University identification card.

  • The Trojan Center serves as the on-campus activity center. It includes an auditorium, meeting and gathering space, large ballrooms, a Barnes & Noble bookstore, Starbucks, a mailroom, student activity offices, and a food court with restaurants like Chick-fil-A, Steak 'n Shake, Einstein Bros, and more.
  • A pristine feature of the campus is the Trojan Oaks Golf Practice Course, a full-service, nine-hole, 3,211-yard golf course that was once part of the campus's full-service golf capability.
  • Montgomery campus: This campus is located in the heart of Alabama's capital city and houses a variety of facilities, like the Rosa Parks Library, Rosa Parks Museum, Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts, and the W.A Gayle Planetarium.
  • Across the Dothan, Montgomery, and Troy campuses, the libraries have over 500,000 bound volumes, 40,000 media items, and nearly a million microforms. In addition, the Troy University Library on the campus serves as a Federal Depository Library.

Troy University has four campuses in Alabama, located in Troy, Montgomery, Phenix City, and Dothan. A lake named Lagoona runs through the campus. It has a beautiful pedestrian bridge, walking trails, and several statues, making the campus a physically attractive place for students.

On campus accomodation

To accommodate the students on campus, Troy University has 11 residential housing facilities including Clements Hall, Cowart Hall, Gardner Hall, Hamil Hall, Honors Cottage, Newman Center, Pace Hall, Rushing Hall, Shackelford Hall, Trojan Village, and University Apartments.

  • Each residence is equipped with all the basic furniture, fixtures, internet service, laundry facilities, recreation, and other facilities.
  • Students can travel around campus using university shuttles or their private vehicles.
  • The cost of housing and meals is roughly 13,500 USD (INR 1,033,728) per academic year. A non-refundable deposit of 100 USD (INR 7,657) is required to apply for campus housing.
  • Priority deadlines to apply for housing at the university are October 1 for Spring and March 1 for Fall.
