The University of Central Lancashire (often known as UCLan) is a public university in Preston, Lancashire, England. It was formed in 1828 as The Institution For The Diffusion Of Useful Knowledge. The Privy Council gave it university status in 1992, after it was known as Harris Art College, Preston Polytechnic, and Lancashire Polytechnic. In terms of student numbers, the institution is the 19th largest in the United Kingdom.

How to Apply at University of Central Lancashire

The following is a step-by-step guide to applying for undergraduate programmes using the UCAS portal:

Step 1: Students must first go to the University of Central Lancashire's 'how to apply' website at www.uclan.ac.uk/undergraduate/how-to-application.

The students must then log in to the UCAS platform and pick the 'Undergraduate' option. To proceed with their application, they must now press the 'Apply' button.

Step 2: If they have previously registered on the portal, they may continue their application by logging in using their username and password.

Step 3: Students who have not yet enrolled must pick their gender and provide their name and surname in order to complete the registration process.

Step 4: To continue, students must pick Non-UK/International from the drop-down menu and click the 'Next' button.

Step 5: To complete the registration, the candidates must provide their address, phone number, and email address.

Step 6: Applicants must create a password and answer a series of security questions to assist them regain their password if they forget or lose it.

Step 7: The username will now appear on the UCAS portal, which students should save because they will need it when checking in.

Step 8: Students may now log in using their username and password, finish the application, and submit it. They may now monitor their application by using the track option which is provided by the UCAS 

Steps to Apply for Graduate School

The following is a step-by-step guide to applying for graduate programmes using the university application portal:

Step 1: Create a new login ID at my.uclan.ac.uk/BANP/bwskalog.p disploginnew.

Step 2: Select a numeric password and enter it.

For undergraduates, UCAS Online Application or UCLan Online Application is used, but for postgraduates, UCLan Online Application is used solely.

The online application for UCLan is free, but the UCAS application costs 25 GBP (2379.43 INR)

Deadline for applications:

  • For September intake, the deadline for applications to schools including Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine is October 15.
  • The main application date for September admission is January 15th.

On campus accomodation

The University of Central Lancashire has three campuses, the major one of which is in Preston.

For all full-time students admitted to the Preston campus, on-campus housing is assured.

At the Preston campus, there are seven halls of residence with rent ranging from 77 GBP to 108 GBP (7328.65- 10279.15 INR) per week, as well as one 1- and 2-bedroom self-contained flats with rent ranging from 97 GBP to 124 GBP (9232.20- 11801.99 INR) per week.

  • A restored common room, shared kitchen, and lounge space are offered at the Preston campus halls of residence. Rooms have a bed, study desk and chair, huge notice board, closet and drawers, bedside cabinet, light, and en-suite wet-room.
  • Students who intend to live in the school's resident halls and apartments on the Preston campus must complete an online application and pay a fee of 250 GBP (23794.33 INR)
  • During the application process for most halls of residence, students have the option of choosing catered or self-catered, co-ed or non-co-ed, and facility options. On the Burnley and Westlakes campuses, on-campus housing is not provided.
  • The Student Accommodation Service assists students at the Burnley campus in finding suitable private accommodation; approximate rent per room runs from 85 GBP to 145 GBP (8090.07- 13800.71 INR), including utility expenses.
