About

The University of King's College was founded in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1789. It is renowned for its Foundation Year Program, through which first-year undergraduates study Western culture through great books. University of King’s College courses include about 2,500 courses, 60+ degree options, and a total of 98 exchange programs too. 

Additionally, it offers numerous upper-year interdisciplinary degrees, including a contemporary studies major, a history of science and technology minor, and a program in early modern studies.  

There are about 850 full-time (undergraduates), 80 full-time (graduates) and 40 part-time (undergraduates).

Transportation in the city

The nearby metro transit - HRM and VIA Rail is the perfect mode of local transportation for students and faculty members to travel in and around the city. It is one of the most affordable means of transportation available along with other options like cabs, taxis, buses, etc. Besides, there is a 15 minute walk from the University of King's College campus to downtown and a 20 minute walk to the waterfront boardwalk.

  • In addition to its beautiful infrastructure, the University of King’s College campus was built following the Oxford-Cambridge model of small colleges.
  • The University of King's College is situated in Halifax's south end on the northwest corner of the Dalhousie University Studley campus.
  • The campus also provides on-campus employment in which one in three students participates to pay their tuition fees and acquire employable skills.
  • On campus, there is also a chapel, a library, a black-box theater called "The Pit", a lodge, the Nuir gymnasium, academic buildings, and an arts and administration building.

Student life

  • Many students are involved in several clubs and societies, such as the King's Theatrical Society.
  • Student-run UKing's Literary Society (formerly Haliburton Society) has hosted discussions about poetry and prose
  • There are 8 varsity sports teams as well as non-competitive programming for athletic students at the university. 
  • There is also a men's and women's basketball team, a soccer team, badminton and rugby teams, as well as a women's volleyball team

The University of King's College offers on-campus housing as well as Halifax as an option for students.

  • On the campus of University of King's College, there are three residential buildings: Alexandra Hall, The Bays, and Angel's Roost.
  • In keeping with the original campus style, the residences were built in the Georgian style.
  • For residence application fees, students must pay 50 CAD (3,015 INR), 200 CAD (12,062 INR) as a deposit and 400 CAD (24,125 INR) as a confirmation deposit.
