Currently, the University is one of 33 colleges participating in the National Sea Grant Program, along with the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program. Additionally, the University runs interdisciplinary institutes like the Center for the Study of Southern Culture.
- Academic merit scholarships are available to international students demonstrating a cumulative GPA of between 3.50 and 4.00 on a scale of 4.00. These University of Mississippi scholarships range in value between 3,900 USD ( 297,024 INR) and 23,454 USD (1,786,256 INR). They cover 15% to 95% of tuition fees.
- Starship Technologies launched a brand-new automated food delivery system on campus in early 2020. It was the first system of its kind among SECU schools, comprising a fleet of 30 robots.
- The University of Mississippi is part of the SEC Academic Consortium. This initiative, now called the SECU, aims to advance research, scholarship, and achievement among member universities in the Southeastern Conference.
