A city bus that goes to different sections of the city provides service to the University of Missouri campus (including shopping areas, restaurants, etc.). Bus transportation is complimentary for all University of Missouri students. Buses run every day, excluding Sundays. The bus service will be covered in information. When boarding the free School Bus, which circles the campus and the nearby downtown, just show your student ID.


Services offered by the university

The University of Missouri maintains a visible presence on all of the campuses and offers a comprehensive public safety program for the benefit of the university community.

  • The University of Missouri Library is home to substantial collections of materials about Missouri history and culture, and it also serves as a venue for meetings for the state-wide digital library project at the University of Missouri. Its objective is to provide inhabitants with access to information and services, as well as libraries and the state government. A grant from the Library Fund of the Missouripolis Foundation has enabled the University of Missouri Library to collaborate with the University of Missouri & digitize a collection of historically significant materials that are currently out of print.
  • The Center for Student Success at the University of Missouri offers academic success workshops in addition to tutoring, supplementary teaching, mentoring, advising, classroom instruction, and counseling. It is housed inside Normal Hall. The center also provides specialized support programs, like the 21st Century Scholar Corps Program, Students in Transition Program, and Student Support Services Program, which assist first-generation, low-income kids as well as students with special needs and disabilities.

Student life

Just south of Downtown Columbia, the University of Missouri's 1,262-acre (2.0 sq mi; 510.7 hectares) campus is kept up as a botanical garden. Francis Quadrangle, a historic area that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, & its many buildings serve as the focal point of the historic campus. 

In the thriving community of the University of Missouri, students actively pursue pleasure by taking part in a variety of programs. It promotes leadership development, healthy living decisions, multicultural competency, civic duty, and personal and professional progress.

  • Students of all ability levels have access to recreational activities through intramural sports. For male, female, and co-rec athletes, it offers single, double, and team sports.
  • A student-run lobbying group that represents students' interests in state and federal legislatures is the Associated Students of the University of Missouri (ASUM). The "Access Missouri" grant should be equalized, "Bright Flight" funding should be increased, and students should have a voice on the Board of Curators, according to ASUM's program.
  • Students from all departments are welcome to join the Trulaske Consulting Association, a relatively new student organization.
  • The Muslim Student Organization (MSO) seeks to build bridges between Muslims & other groups in the Columbia community and offers an open, welcoming educational and social environment for Muslims at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The Muslim Student Organization participates in religious, educational, and social activities to foster greater campus cohesion and raise understanding of Islam among Muslims and people of other faiths. The goal of the organization is to advance a sound understanding of Islam in social and cultural contexts. Every MU student is eligible to join the MSO.
  • Except for wrestling, which competes in the Big 12 Conference, the Missouri Tigers are Southeastern Conference members. The only university in the state that fields teams in all of its sports at the NCAA Division I level, including a football squad that competes in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, is Mizzou (FBS). These are the top levels of college athletics in the country. Black and gold are the designated colors.
  • The Tigers compete in baseball, football, golf, gymnastics & diving, softball, track, tennis, women's soccer, volleyball, and wrestling in addition to men's and women's basketball. The ladies' squad in a shooting club that was historically popular won a national title.
