About

The reputed University of New Mexico was founded in the year 1889 with the aim of becoming the state university of New Mexico. Its main campus, which spans almost 800 acres, is situated in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the United States. The University of New Mexico courses include almost 215 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, 94 of which are baccalaureate degrees, 71 master's degrees, and 37 doctoral degrees. Along with these schools, UNM also houses a university college, a school of architecture and planning, a school of public administration, a school of education, a school of fine arts, a school of nursing, a school of pharmacy, and a college of arts & sciences.

Transportation in the city

University of New Mexico transportation options include bus, taxi, and private vehicle. The Line 217 bus service is an option to reach the university quickly. However, there is also a shuttle service to the institution.

The New Mexico Highlands University campus provides facilities that are thought to be favorable to learning.

  • The main academic building is located on the university's core campus, which is bordered on the south by Central Avenue, the east by Girard Boulevard, the north by Lomas Boulevard, and the west by University Boulevard.
  • The Maxwell Museum of Anthropology, the Geology Museum, the Southwestern Biology Museum, and the University Art Museum are all located on the central campus.
  • The university's student union building houses the offices of the student government and organisations, a food court, a theatre, event spaces, and recreational areas.
  • It is well known to serve as a key hub for students who live on campus.

Student life

Gallup, Los Alamos, Taos, and Valencia all have UNM satellite campuses. Additionally, the University of New Mexico's architecture includes a Pueblo Revival element. The centre, north, and south parts of the campus are separated.

  • At UNM, there are over 400 student groups to select from. If there isn't one that appeals to you, you can charter your own group through the Students Activities Center.
  • Students can take part in a range of cultural activities at  New Mexico Highlands University.

On campus accomodation

The university offers students on-campus housing facilities. 

  • The institute has 15 housing communities and 8 residence halls.
  • There are eight residence halls in total - seven on the main campus and one that come in the standard, suite, and apartment styles.
  • The American Campus Communities (ACC) offers students two additional housing alternatives referred to as On-Campus Private Partner Housing.
  • There are only a few special housing accommodations offered through its accessibility resource centre.
