The university announced in February 2019 its intent to acquire the San Francisco Theological Seminary (SFTS) in a transaction that would preserve the secular nature of the university and maintain the historically religious affiliations of SFTS.
- Over 90% of first-year students avail financial aid in scholarships, grants, and loans. A University of Redlands scholarship based on merit is automatically granted to students who apply to the university. The first-year students may be eligible for scholarships of up to 32,000 USD (2,482,169 INR).
- Throughout its 25-year history, the university's Community Service Learning program has allowed students to extend their learning beyond the classroom. It includes a variety of ways, from mentoring local youths to building houses in Mexico. The University of Redlands' students perform more than 120,000 hours of community service each year.
