About
A private Jesuit university located in Scranton, Pennsylvania, The University of Scranton was founded in 1821. This college was founded as St. Thomas College in 1888 by William O'Hara, the first Bishop of Scranton. As a result of the university status granted to the college in 1938, the University of Scranton was established.
Read more: 1942 marked when the Society of Jesus acquired control and ownership of the University. A lay board of trustees took control of the university in the 1960s.

Transportation in the city
The University is located in Scranton, a city in northeastern Pennsylvania. As part of its contract with COLTS, students, faculty, and staff at the University can ride any of the 31 routes operated by COLTS. Students can ride all COLTS buses for free with their student IDs. Buses are available at 23 Lackawanna Avenue, which is located in downtown Scranton.
Services offered by the university
The center employs psychologists, counselors, and social workers. The University offers several student services, including counseling, consultations, assessments, crisis intervention, non-remedial tutoring, women's centers, placement services, daycare, and health services. There are 24-hour foot and vehicle patrols on campus, late night transport, emergency telephones available 24 hours a day, lighted pathways and sidewalks, and student patrols.
Student life
A wide range of activities and organizations are offered as part of the Student Life program, including ministry-based programs and leadership initiatives. From Urban Beats Crew to rugby to Habitat for Humanity, more than 80 active clubs and organizations are available for students to choose from. There is a strong commitment to the arts and culture among students.
On campus accomodation
The University provides on-campus accommodation availability to its students. First-year students usually share a communal bathroom and a double room. Sophomores are housed in suites with two double rooms sharing a bathroom. Those in the upper classes and graduates are offered apartments and houses with more privacy.
In first-year residence halls, most rooms are doubles, and all halls have kitchens and laundry facilities. All sophomore housing has air conditioning, cable, and Internet access. 24 university-operated graduate apartments have been constructed on the 2nd and 3rd floors, with designs similar to Montrone and Pilarz Halls. The kitchen, bathroom, and living room of each apartment are shared.
