Transportation in the city

The University of South Alabama has a campus transportation system called JagTran that was developed to offer simple, secure, and effective transportation for students, staff, and visitors to the uni. On the main campus, JagTran is continuously in operation. There is no need for reservations, tickets, or money. It is also simple to walk or take public transportation to get to the University niversity, the city is well connected and traveling is easy.

 At the University of South Alabama, more than 14,000 students come from different cultural backgrounds and around 55 different countries. There are nearly always many social, cultural, and recreational events accessible on campus, where more than 2,400 students reside. Cultural events, sporting events, club activities, college productions, and other activities occur on campus. The students can also spend their leisure time at various recreational locations off campus. The balance between academic and extracurricular activities is ideal.

There are ten houses in the fraternity and sorority housing complex at the University of South Alabama. Hundreds of various living experiences are available with 33 residence halls spread over 7 residential communities. First-year students get the opportunity to get acclimated to campus life in residence halls that are exclusively for them.

With seven residential communities that include 33 residence halls, students have a wide range of options for on-campus housing. These residences provide individual rooms, double-occupancy rooms, and apartment-style lodgings with kitchenettes. Every neighborhood provides laundry facilities, multipurpose spaces, and lounges for studying and relaxing. More than 330 programs are available at the University's housing complex to keep students interested all academic year.

The University offers its students a variety of research opportunities. The College of Medicine sponsors an eight-week medical Student Summer Research Program, designed specifically for medical students who want to learn more about biomedical research.There are also programs for undergraduate students offering them research opportunities.
